Revive the spirit of all.
We do Capoeira to revive our spirit.
How does Capoeira revive our spirit?
We play Capoeira to free ourselves mentally, physically, and spiritually—while having fun. Like many indigenous rituals, when we sing and practice Capoeira, we rehearse the outcome we want in our lives—"O Jogo da Vida" (the game of life), as Grand Mestre Nô teaches. It's a metaphor for our life experiences, helping us understand and process problem-solving, making good choices, taking risks, and finding joy—all with the support of community.
Capoeira Angola is an ancient, playful art form that enslaved Africans created to resist colonial oppression in Brazil. For nearly 400 years, Capoeira was taught and practiced in secret from Master to disciple until it was legalized in the 1930s. Capoeira blends dance moves like a house head, kicks like a superhero, and cartwheels like gymnastics. The art form gives you the intuition to navigate life with adaptability, strength, and grace.
When we do Capoeira, we revive our spirit!
